Dragon riders used to be a common thing in ancient times around the Asian continent; Fearless men and women seeking out dragons to bond with. When a rider bonded with a dragon and earned their trust, a dragon would give them a scale to be able to summon it no matter when and where. Though, with the existence of dragons becoming more well-known, so did the fear around them. A group known as Banishers banded together to make weapons that were strong enough to kill the giant monsters.

As Dragon riders started to lose their dragons, they became very ill as if a piece of them had been ripped away. Unable to stop the Banishers without a full blown war, a Dragon rider who had been skilled with magic stepped in by taking the scales from their collective and using them to call the dragon spirits from beyond to bond with their bodies. Though, the spell had a backlash as it wiped out the rest of the dragons that were still alive.

Their spirits bonded with those who had earned their trust and the scales sank into the dragon riders' flesh and took over their bodies. When the riders awoke from the spell, their skin had absorbed the scale into their bodies. Each color scale had a specific power that the dragon rider had gained the ability of. They called themselves drakes now as they were no longer riders and not full blown dragons. They learned that the dragon gene could be passed on to their children. Yet, there was always only one black scale drake that seemed to be around and always came from the bloodline of that magical dragon rider who performed the spell.

The black scale drake would often be looked at as the leader among them creating the order of the Dragoons, having such power to keep their species around and unharmed. Though, there was the wonder if the black scale Drake bloodline ended, would the Drakes be around anymore? Drakes being able to look like many normal humans tended to blend in keeping their color scale secret to those that were not in their community for they feared the Banishers would turn their rage to them.

The death of the first black scaled Drake caused panic in the order of The Dragoons. It was clear even being fused with dragon spirits didn’t make them invincible. The larger in numbers they were, the more likely they were to be targeted. So, the order made the choice to spread out among the world in hopes to lead normal lives.

When Libelle was born to the kin of the black scaled Drake, she was born with a black scale of her own. It was the first time since the first black scaled Drake to carry the scale. Her mother knew she could be a great hope for the Drakes if she made it to adulthood. Living in secret in Australia, Libelle was trained to take control and bring the order of The Dragoons back.

FEAR GAZE
Drakes can cause fear in weak minded individuals with one look.

TELEPATHIC BOND
A Drake can bond themself with another willing creature to allow them to see and hear what they do.

SCALE ARMOR
When called forth, a drake turns their skin into a hard armor that looks like scales. They can shift the colors to camouflage in with their surroundings when not moving.

SCALE TYPES TO CHOOSE FROM
Poison (Amethyst scale) Can use their blood as liquid poison or can breathe a cloud of poison.
Gas (Emerald scale) Can breathe from sweet gases to stink gases. From mild to deadly.
Sound (Sapphire scale) Can use their vocal breath to break apart items or cause ground tremors.
Petrication (Ruby scale) Sucking in air causes what they wish to lose all liquid or life.
Admin (Onyx scale) Can do all the above.

LONG LIFE SPANS
Believed to be immortal due to their long life spans but many drakes don’t see past a couple thousand years.

STRENGTH
Since they have the spirit of a dragon inside of them they are naturally stronger than a normal human. The angerier they are or the more trained they are they can channel their rage or skill into strength.

ENHANCE VISION AND HEARING
With being part animal they have the ability to see far but also see in the dark, and hear far distances.

DRAGON CLAWS
A Drake can make their nails grow and harden turning them into a weapon.

DECAPITATION
Head removal kills them.

HEART REMOVAL
Heart removal kills them.

WEAK SPOT
Their stomach is the weakest spot on their body if in Armor Scale mode.

BIRTH SCALE
The scale that gives them power when removed will kill the drake.

OTHER DRAKE BLOOD
Drake blood not of their element is extremely poisonous.

DRAGON WEAPONS
In the world of old hunters, golden weapons were made to kill dragons. These weapons will cut even through their dragon scale armor.

DRAGONROOT
It can weaken a Drake. In its root form, it burns the Drake's skin and deactivates their Scale armor. If ingested, it makes a Drake weak and paralyzed.

GOLD
Gold is something Drakes can’t stand. Gold Chains and cages can hold them. Touching gold burns them. Ingested depending on the amount can make them extremely sick to kill them. Weapons of Gold can kill them.

VULNERABILITY
Drakes are susceptible to the abilities of other species, if they can get passed the scale armor, including- a siren's songs, fae magic, magi magic, banshee screams, sanguine venom and illusions, a lupine's empathy, and gypsies' dreamwalking and illusions, and an eternal's affinity.

STRANGE APPETITE
Drakes often eat weird things such as iron, hot coals, gems.

HEATED HANDS
A Drake can make their hands heat up to a molten hot without damage to themselves.

OFF-PUTTING AURA
Most Drakes live lonely lives because their body gives off an Aura that makes most people want to avoid them.

COLD TEMPERATURES
In a cold environment, Drakes functions are slowed. If too cold, they can fall into a deep sleep.

WINGS
The older the Drake, the more likely they have gained their wings that grow from their back and break off once not in use.
