Timeless

Adventuring through twisted time.

Freshly nineteen Lily felt like she needed to start finding her path in the world. All she knew was her siblings tried to gather paints and other art supplies for her when they could. She felt it wasn’t their job to support her dreams, especially since the things for her dreams could end up costing them more than coin. She was blessed whether it be by the wind or the moon with the ability to see colors beyond that of many people. So she thought why not try making her own paints, then maybe it would keep her family safe. So that day she packed a little bag with some glass jars to visit different places and collect samples.  She went to move out of her tent before pausing. She quickly returned to write out a note to Luna with what she was doing so no one would overly worry about her.

After she was done with the note she moved out of her tent and let the warmth smack her in the face. She looked up to the sky seeing the swirls of the oranges and pink undertones. After a moment of admiring it she pulled her face away and looked around. It seemed most of the caravan were either asleep or out getting things for their people. “Perfect timing.” She muttered as she started to walk out of the line of the colorful tents of her people. Her walking soon turned into dancing as she hummed to herself practicing one of the routines that she often performed to gain some coin. She had grown dependent on the Wind to keep her safe so her eyes closed as she twirled around.

That was when she collided into a solid mass, falling back on her bottom she gave a gentle, “Ow.” She looked to her elbow as she checked to make sure she wasn’t bleeding before turning her gaze up to the young man who she had come to know as Hawk. He was so angry, and she still wasn’t sure why he wanted to be around the gypsy’s for as long as he had been. “Hello to you also, Hawk.” She said with the cheerful chim her voice always seemed to have as she pulled herself up off of the ground to stand fully in front of him once again. Though she was much shorter than him.

She could feel the anger just lashing through his soul, the young gypsy wolf turned her head to the side to watch him for a moment. “How about you tag along with me today?” She asked though her hand came to his and she started to pull him along behind her. “I am going to attempt to make my own paints. I may need some help collecting things. So kind of you to help me.” She said not giving him a chance to deny helping her as she used the wind to push him  with her dragging. She reached the lake that she had been wanting to go to with ease. Her hand still in his, her eyes darted around. “Moss, water, rocks. Yes this has to yield some good color results.” She sat her bag down and pulled out a bottle to collect water.

Every prayer said in private in the night fell on no ears so of course as he begged for the Wind to save her if they were caught wasn't a private conversation. Despite having said it in his mind and not his mouth. "But it's alright for you to worry after me?" He found this amusing and the smirk on his face said so though worry was still there. " I thought caring for someone also meant you worried even if they could care for themselves." He felt a bit now that she was going with him willing but the worry still carried over into his voice and he couldn't hide it. He took a breath and held his tongue; she wanted to help him. The thought warmed him but he knew in the end she couldn't.  He didn't yet know what it would take to free himself but he was certain the Wind wouldn't agree with it and now wasn't the time to discuss it.

Lily was right in noticing they were headed back towards the caravan but Hawk had already determined it a bad idea to continue that path. When she stopped and his arm was yanked he felt like he was trying to pull a wall toward. A good reminder that she wasn't weak at the slightest bit. With a gentle nod, his demeanour softened the faintest bit. "I know just trust me. Please." He was asking her for a lot not just at this moment but the moment before when he promised their argument/conversation wasn't over. Maybe they had stalled for too long. Or maybe the determination in the men quickened their steps. Whatever the event Hawk's crystalline gaze drifted from Lily and in the next second he shifted her behind him. Catching a stone that had been thrown their way. Quite literally only a stones throw away was far too close for comfort.  Hawk hurled the stone back towards the group and the crack of it hitting one of them echoed through the trees.

Never a good sound to be sure but now the men seemed even more riled up. Hawk cursed under his breath as he spun. "I have a place to hide but I need you to trust me. Please?" He tried to tug her and again prayed to the Wind to help convince her to move and that he wasn't going to endanger the caravan because not only did he love her family he would never forgive himself if he put them in danger.

Lily rolled her eyes, "I am more than just wind," she retorted, smirking slightly. "So naturally, I'm allowed to worry about you." She paused, realizing that now wasn't the time to delve into philosophical discussions, especially with potential threats lurking among the men at the lake. Frowning slightly, she resisted the urge to concede to his words, though deep down, she knew he was right. "Caring for someone means not letting them face challenges alone," she muttered under her breath, the tension in the air palpable.

The urge to unleash her inner wolf surged within Lily, but the symbiotic relationship she shared with the wind held her back. While she didn't possess the level of affinity with the wind that Artemis did, there was still a bond strong enough to deter separation. "Okay," she finally conceded, acknowledging that they were in this together for better or worse. She pushed aside any thoughts of further discussion for the moment, allowing him to guide her with a protective instinct that differed from Luca's more human attempts at protection. His movements were distinctly otherworldly, though not entirely unexpected, eliciting a gasp from her lips as he deftly caught and hurled a stone back.

"You're asking a lot from me, Wings," she remarked, falling into step behind him, her reluctance evident in her tone. She had no desire to engage in confrontation with the bruised egos of the men they encountered, nor did she wish to test their combat prowess unnecessarily. "Where are we headed?" she whispered softly, her trust in him unwavering. If she hadn't trusted him, she wouldn't have ventured out with him in the first place. However, her concern for their safety lingered, a silent plea for both of them to emerge unscathed from whatever lay ahead.
