Freshly nineteen Lily felt like she needed to start finding her path in the world. All she knew was her siblings tried to gather paints and other art supplies for her when they could. She felt it wasn’t their job to support her dreams, especially since the things for her dreams could end up costing them more than coin. She was blessed whether it be by the wind or the moon with the ability to see colors beyond that of many people. So she thought why not try making her own paints, then maybe it would keep her family safe. So that day she packed a little bag with some glass jars to visit different places and collect samples. She went to move out of her tent before pausing. She quickly returned to write out a note to Luna with what she was doing so no one would overly worry about her.
After she was done with the note she moved out of her tent and let the warmth smack her in the face. She looked up to the sky seeing the swirls of the oranges and pink undertones. After a moment of admiring it she pulled her face away and looked around. It seemed most of the caravan were either asleep or out getting things for their people. “Perfect timing.” She muttered as she started to walk out of the line of the colorful tents of her people. Her walking soon turned into dancing as she hummed to herself practicing one of the routines that she often performed to gain some coin. She had grown dependent on the Wind to keep her safe so her eyes closed as she twirled around.
That was when she collided into a solid mass, falling back on her bottom she gave a gentle, “Ow.” She looked to her elbow as she checked to make sure she wasn’t bleeding before turning her gaze up to the young man who she had come to know as Hawk. He was so angry, and she still wasn’t sure why he wanted to be around the gypsy’s for as long as he had been. “Hello to you also, Hawk.” She said with the cheerful chim her voice always seemed to have as she pulled herself up off of the ground to stand fully in front of him once again. Though she was much shorter than him.
She could feel the anger just lashing through his soul, the young gypsy wolf turned her head to the side to watch him for a moment. “How about you tag along with me today?” She asked though her hand came to his and she started to pull him along behind her. “I am going to attempt to make my own paints. I may need some help collecting things. So kind of you to help me.” She said not giving him a chance to deny helping her as she used the wind to push him with her dragging. She reached the lake that she had been wanting to go to with ease. Her hand still in his, her eyes darted around. “Moss, water, rocks. Yes this has to yield some good color results.” She sat her bag down and pulled out a bottle to collect water.

Every prayer said in private in the night fell on no ears so of course as he begged for the Wind to save her if they were caught wasn't a private conversation. Despite having said it in his mind and not his mouth. "But it's alright for you to worry after me?" He found this amusing and the smirk on his face said so though worry was still there. " I thought caring for someone also meant you worried even if they could care for themselves." He felt a bit now that she was going with him willing but the worry still carried over into his voice and he couldn't hide it. He took a breath and held his tongue; she wanted to help him. The thought warmed him but he knew in the end she couldn't. He didn't yet know what it would take to free himself but he was certain the Wind wouldn't agree with it and now wasn't the time to discuss it.
Lily was right in noticing they were headed back towards the caravan but Hawk had already determined it a bad idea to continue that path. When she stopped and his arm was yanked he felt like he was trying to pull a wall toward. A good reminder that she wasn't weak at the slightest bit. With a gentle nod, his demeanour softened the faintest bit. "I know just trust me. Please." He was asking her for a lot not just at this moment but the moment before when he promised their argument/conversation wasn't over. Maybe they had stalled for too long. Or maybe the determination in the men quickened their steps. Whatever the event Hawk's crystalline gaze drifted from Lily and in the next second he shifted her behind him. Catching a stone that had been thrown their way. Quite literally only a stones throw away was far too close for comfort. Hawk hurled the stone back towards the group and the crack of it hitting one of them echoed through the trees.
Never a good sound to be sure but now the men seemed even more riled up. Hawk cursed under his breath as he spun. "I have a place to hide but I need you to trust me. Please?" He tried to tug her and again prayed to the Wind to help convince her to move and that he wasn't going to endanger the caravan because not only did he love her family he would never forgive himself if he put them in danger.
Why is it that when it seems your world is crashing down around you, so too does the rain fall?
The traction of Hawk's boots wavered as the dirt beneath them turned to mud. The pelting sound of the rain suddenly pelting all it hit as it fell drowned out everything else. He barely heard her whispered question as the sound of the rolling storm crescendoed. He didn't want to risk answering anyway. As he didn't want their hunters to catch word of his answer downwind somehow. It would be just his luck and for a cursed one it was likely his luck. He used the trees as coverage for as long as he could but eventually, they had to step out into the clearing.
Hawk looked back to see her with his hand still firmly grasping his. Giving her hand a light squeeze as a remorseful look overtook his gaze. He wished he could reassure her but he had no guarantees; their brief reprieve could be counted as seconds on one hand as his gaze drifted to the mob as they lit their lanterns in a hope to find them better. “Run!” He over-enunciates so that even if his voice isn't heard through the rough sound of the rain she would still be able to read his lips.
He never let her go! Gripping her hand for dear life and yet, still able to make sure he never hurt her with his grip. A little victory he'd have celebrated being able to do if the circumstances were different. Right at this moment however, they were exposed! To the men, lightning and the gods as they sped through the clearing to a hidden cave he hoped only he knew of. Taking the risk of letting her hand go so he could reveal the small crawl space for them to enter and allowing her to go first. Next through were the supplies she'd gathered that he was holding, which quickly slid in using the rain to his advantage. While last was him where once he was safely within the hiding place he covered the entrance with a large boulder from the inside. Impossible, so he hoped for any number of men to move without supernatural help but also casting them in complete darkness.
